Brewcyclers World

Beer and cycling only happens in Portland, right? WRONG. Right here in Southern California is a new cycling group called Brewcyclers where cycling enthusiasts of all levels come together on planned rides discovering breweries throughout this part of the country where it's mostly known for surf, wine and celebrities. Although cycling as a sport has been pretty popular here due in part of the beautiful sunny weather we get year round, but urban cycling and recreational group riding still hasn't become mainstream.  But what is a common factor with cyclists is that beer is the prefer choice of post-ride drink according to Bicycling magazine's 2012 Reader's Choice.

Breweries have been popping up all over the country and there are definitely no shortages of them in this sunny state either. San Diego alone has over 50 breweries and has built a reputation for its IPA's, both Orange County and Los Angeles County also has its share of award winnings brews. It's nearly impossible to have taste every beer out there unless you sit at Whole Foods' beer aisle and buy every bottle available, so Brewcyclers wanted to organize rides bringing beer and cycling lovers together to discover the flavors of California brews. After burning all the calories on a 20-40 mile ride, it's very rewarding to sit and relax in a fun environment with a good cold glass of beer without feeling guilty about your consumption.

Brewcyclers currently has two planned rides on their events calendar and it's worth a days ride to check it out, meet new people, cruise along with the group and enjoy a drink or two afterwards.
